NCC Headquarters and Directorates

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is the biggest group in India for young people who wear uniforms. It helps students learn how to follow rules. It also helps them be good leaders. The NCC wants students to feel proud of their country.


NCC Headquarters and Directorates

Headquarters:

  • The NCC Headquarters is in R.K. Puram, New Delhi. It is run by the Defense department.
  • The person at the top of NCC is known as the Director General (DG NCC). He comes from the Indian Army and is at the level of Lieutenant General. The current Director General (DG) of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) is Lieutenant General Gurbirpal Singh. He took office on September 27, 2021, and is the 34th Director General of the NCC.

Directorates:

NCC in India has 17 Directorates. Each one covers the different states and union territories. These Directorates are split into Group Headquarters and Units.

NCC Directorates in India :-

1. Andhra Pradesh & Telangana Directorate – (HQ) Hyderabad

2. Bihar & Jharkhand Directorate – (HQ)  Patna

3. Chhattisgarh Directorate – (HQ)  Raipur

4. Delhi Directorate – (HQ)  New Delhi

5. Gujarat Directorate – (HQ)  Ahmadabad

6. Jammu & Kashmir Directorate – (HQ) Jammu

7. Karnataka & Goa Directorate – (HQ) Bangalore

8. Kerala & Lakshadweep Directorate – (HQ) Thiruvananthapuram

9. Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh Directorate – (HQ) Bhopal

10. Maharashtra Directorate – (HQ) Mumbai

11. North East Region (NER) Directorate – (HQ) Shillong

12. Odisha Directorate – (HQ) Bhubaneswar

13. Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Chandigarh Directorate - (HQ) Chandigarh.

14. Rajasthan Directorate – (HQ) Jaipur

15. Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, and Andaman & Nicobar Directorate – (HQ) Chennai

16. Uttar Pradesh Directorate – (HQ) Lucknow

17. West Bengal & Sikkim Directorate – (HQ) Kolkata

 

 Organizational Structure

  • Each Directorate is run by an officer with the rank of brigadier or someone at the same level.
  • The directorates have their own Group Headquarters. These Group Headquarters manage the Units.
  • Units are the main groups at the start. They help train cadets in their schools and colleges.
  • NCC HQ (New Delhi) is the main office. The next level is 17 Directorates. After that, you have Group HQs. Units come next in the line. At the bottom, there are Sub-Units. These Sub-Units are in schools and colleges.
